About Ty
Emerging from the greater Boston area of Massachusetts, Tyeri Morrison dedicated 13 years of extensive dance training to The Gold School DanceArt; directed under Choreographer and Founder Rennie Gold. During this time, his passion for dance manifested through his participation in numerous styles ranging from ballet, Horton, musical theatre jazz, tap, hip hop, and African tribal dance. Learning under esteemed choreographers like Larry Souza, Billy Barry, and Kenny Warmald, he also performed in works set by Tyce Doricario, Teddy Forance, Chaz Buzan, and more. Following his high school completion, Ty attends The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, on full-tuition scholarship where he is pursuing his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, graduating in 2021.
His training at the Conservatory consists of courses concentrated on Horton, Limón, Graham, Release, Counter technique, GaGa, hip hop, varied ballet techniques, and composition courses taught by world-renowned professors and instructors like Kurt Douglas, Tai Jimenez, Brian McGinnis, Joy Davis, and Danielle Davidson. During his time at the Conservatory Ty has performed works by Darrell Moultrie, Catherine Coury, Bradley Shelver, Martha Nichols, and Adrianne Hawkins. Ty’s training extends to summer programs he’s attended learning with companies such as BodyTraffic, Gibney Dance, Mikayla Taylor’s The TLCollective, LimonLaunch Pro, and the Giordano Dance Company.
Aside from the contemporary industry, Ty has also engaged in commercial works with Mia Michael in a video filmed in NY 2018. Ty collaborated with Levi Marsman, creating a performance installation at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (Boston) 2020, and recently has been featured in on-site productions working with choreographer Roderick George. As a choreographer himself, Ty's work has been performed at the Young Choreographers Commencement in Albany, NY 2019, and The Cape Dance Festival 2015. Ty humbly acknowledges that he is a proud recipient of the 2017 YoungArts Scholarship and a continuing Mark Boucher Scholarship Recipient.
